Use trends as inspiration, not a rulebook

For those of you who have been following me for some time, you’ll remember my skinny jeans, long hair era.  What a time to be alive.  I like to think I had a bit of style back then.

But I definitely followed whatever a lot of other guys were doing at the time.

Through the years I’ve learned you can follow the trends, but you can also make them your own.  

This week we’re talking spring fashion trends.

From the styles that are in, to ways to make them work for you, let’s go through how to upgrade your look without overhauling your entire wardrobe.

SPRING LOOKS
ANY MAN CAN PULL OFF

Spring is right around the corner, which means it’s time to officially make the wardrobe switch.  If you caught my 2025 Fashion Trends video then you already have an idea of what I’m thinking this year.  

Let’s now refine those thoughts for spring.   

Basically you’ll want to ditch the heavy winter fabrics and replace them with lighter, breathable pieces that still make a statement.  Spring is all about looking sharp while staying comfortable.  

And as you’ll see below, any guy can pull these looks off.

Elevated style doesn’t have to be uncomfortable

You might think that looking sharp means wearing tight, tailored clothing but that’s not true at all. As a matter of fact, spring is the perfect time to wear loose comfortable fits. 

The look:

How to wear it: 

Pick up linen shirts that are roomy and allow airflow into your body. Let some of those top buttons go and you’ll see that a nice linen shirt is in fact more comfortable than a t-shirt, and let’s be honest: it looks much, much better. 

You can style it with jeans, chinos, or even shorts depending on the occasion, which goes to show how versatile this shirt really is. 

Layer with lightweight jackets

Learn the power of layering with lightweight jackets like denim or bomber jackets.

How to wear it:

Invest in a go-to jacket that is light, effortless, and stylish.  This should be a piece you can wear almost anywhere, on top of a t-shirt, hoodie, or button down.  

Keep in mind the fit - too baggy and it looks sloppy, too tight and you can’t really layer it with anything other than a t-shirt.  Aim for neutral colors like navy, black, and tan and you should be safe to wear it with almost anything.

Loafers: Your new shoe

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, loafers are the shoe of 2025.  This spring immediately upgrade any outfit with these classic shoes.

How to wear loafers:

If you’ve never worn loafers before, try them with classic straight-cut pants paired with a stylish top to give yourself an elevated streetwear look.

You really can’t go wrong with loafers.  They can be worn with your favorite casual pants or you can dress them up with a classic pair of tailored trousers.

Accessorize to complete the outfit

The right accessories make all the difference, transforming an outfit from just “okay” to polished and put-together.

How and what to wear:

Watch - every man’s statement piece, immediately refining your look - go with suits your wrist and that you feel comfortable with

Sunglasses - timeless options like aviators, wayfarers, and clubmasters complete any look

Belt - upgrade to a quality black or brown leather belt to accent your pants and shoes

This spring is your opportunity to refine your style or even completely update it. 

But if you’ve already got your own look, that’s great - there’s no need to reinvent the wheel.  

Just think of these trends as tools, not rules - a little something extra for when you want to switch things up

The key with any outfit isn’t just the clothes, it’s your confidence and how you make them work for you.
